robyn & mark

the long awaited omaha/iowa wedding finally on the blog.

what a weekend this was! we had such a good time being in "america". if you haven't ever been to the middle of america, and you like corn, fields, green, beautiful historic homes, and feeling good, go now. husband and I were in wedding heaven. first, we were shooting at the castle unicorn (hello awesome). second, the weather was amazing. third, there was back light from every angle and we caught amazing sunflares right before the sun went down (happy me). fourth, the tall grass was driving me crazy. fifth, beautiful children. sixth, my grandma was there....and lastly my lovely cousin robyn got married and I was there to witness!!

I couldn't be more happy for them. we had such a great time catching up on the last 10yrs of our lives. what we really want is to come to the school/mansion and cook in that kitchen with you....or maybe you could skip on over to southern california and we could break into grandma and grandpas pool.

thank you so much for inviting me to be a part of such an important time. I never stop feeling humbled at all the happy moments I get to be so close to. such an honor to be with every wedding couple and document all of the joy.

my job is the best.

just a taste...

princess ro and her prince laying in some grass in ohio
(apparently the wedding this saturday was in IOWA and not nebraska..and not ohio).
I really need to get america strait.

such a great weekend. I can't wait to post the whole wedding.

castle unicorn

hello. I am now in omaha nebraska. two states in one week that are first time visits. I like!

the only word that come to mind for this weekend.......magical.

kindra & marty's wedding- reception

big time family crush.

I had no idea way back when during a steamy love escapade in new york city that I would still be connected with the anderson family...and can I just say, SO glad I am.

after photographing a couple weddings and ava's birth serious bonding happened. I love kindra, devon, alicia and family, the jonas brothers, rudy, karen and jaron...the whole lot! quality people.

a few words about kindra's dad, rudy..fell in love. he is down to earth, funny, disarming and personable. he is always smiling and is a great conversationalist. I was poking grant the whole night asking, "can you be like that when you're a dad?" he's totally on board with me. when I casually mentioned the fact that I wish I could be an anderson, he understood.

believe it or not this wedding was not about the anderson family, it was about kindra and marty. AND just for the record the adair family was amazing as well. marty's mom had about 8 arms and was whipping that party up before our very eyes. and how cute was his dad? If I waited long enough I always got a smile.

kindra and marty, it was an honor to celebrate your day with you. kin, now that I know the house "secret" don't be surprised when you come home some day I am chillin on your couch.

love, love, love!

highlights from the day:
-the couple coming out before you guys who had to "stage" their exit about 3 times. ouch!
-your hair net
-NO RAIN!
-marty's "blue steel"
-grant's shoe poses
-perfect light
-best backyard EVER
-the stream
-the trampoline!
-kindra's dress ripping
-ava being adorable
-the jonas brothers
-cinnamon bears
-rolling down the hill
-deer
-the small fire that started
-the hunting scrapbook
-a really good looking bride and groom

once wed

tess and adam strike again!

their wedding is being shared today on once wed's amazing site. once wed also has a real weddings section that is featuring this lovely wedding.

thanks once wed! your site is beautiful! (can't wait to see the airstream wedding!)

...and thanks tess and company for planning such an inspirational wedding. when couples plan a wedding that is personal and meaningful, others are drawn to that thought and care. I just wish everyone could have tasted the chocolate and passion fruit cake. I probably think about that cake once a day.

just a taste...

back from a super awesome work weekend in the great state of utah.

this wedding was off the hook...wait till you see the bride. wowzas! the rain even took a break so we could frolic in the ginormous backyard reception (complete with stream and trampoline). SO fun!

on the interweb

searching through my blog stats today (that gave me the super cool info featured in the last post) I have come across a couple places where my photos or photos of me, have been posted. yay!

tess on the interweb:
oh happy day (thanks jordan!)
casando ideias (scan down the page, beautiful brazilian (I think?) blog)
wemetinabar (some great inspiration on this blog!)
the unwedding (I'm an anti bride too!!!)

me and granty pants on the interweb:
kellymccaleb-tumblr (see the little blue house and grandma's cabin details right above?)
grey likes weddings (my wedding was fun. I miss it.)

thanks to everyone for sharing my images.

I guess if you want your wedding photos to be online, wear a vintage dress (and have a super awesome name like, tess).

xo.

so many images I wanted to post from this wedding, I had to divide them into groups.

tess's mom is an amazing events planner. I need to get her details so I can pass them along. every detail was so well thought out...from the food to the lighting and decor...and check out that mushroom cake! totally unique and tasty! I had a few pieces of different cake before I left and one of them was a chocolate cake with passion fruit filling. WHAT?! it was probably the best cake I have ever eaten.

a gorgeous wedding and a beautiful couple.

tess and adam, I wish you a long happy life together filled with fungi and sparkly lights.

ps. notice the heart the lights above the cake made in the pool?! tender.

laura & courtney- san diego, ca wedding

there are a lot of images in this post because...well...they deserved it. brides with dimples get lots of photos posted on the blog.

amazing, down to earth couple. gorgeous sunny weather. delightful details and delicious food. one happy photographer.

thanks laura and court for letting me stick my camera in your face all day. I quite enjoyed it.

ps. most are color shots. I can't help myself!

laura and courtney -look look

This San Diego wedding and the couple were totally bomb! (Laura, love that dimple!!) I'll post more this week.

Question: sometimes I like to post one photo from an event while I am working on the rest, just to give the client something to get excited about. I really don't want to call it a "teaser" and I don't want to call it a "sneak peek". any ideas on what I could title those? today it was "look look". what does that even mean?!

Leaving for Seattle today! please email me with any questions while I am away.

I will miss blogging from ginormous imac but I will continue faithfully from the mini macbook. xo.

emily & steven- san diego, ca

I like shooting weddings for "kind of" family. emily is my sister in law's sister, but their whole family feels more like cousins to me. confused enough? let's just say I love them.

It's not half bad spending a work day shooting some of my favorite subjects.....delectable nieces and nephews and a dashing new couple.

favorites of the day, the DJ (by far), overcast then sunny skies, hawaiian haystacks, grandpa and his best friend, babies making-out on the dance floor, my assistant, poop in the grass...need I say more? awesome day.
