thank you's

I wish I could take credit and say that I hand made these... but I think am inspired to try in the future. I saw these on esty and thought they were great...

go here to see reinked and recycled, letter pressed stationary on etsy. what a great idea to use those piles of outdated wedding magazines for thank you cards.

they've been sent (a little late), but we hope everyone knows how thankful we are for all of the wedding love.

oh, and HAPPY JUNE! (finally a summer month).

the spelling bee

(photo via here)

last night we watched the national spelling bee. I'm totally dumbfounded the whole time because I'm a horrible speller...well not horrible, but extremely lazy. I will call to grant in the other room for help spelling "bread" if I'm too lazy to think about it.

these kids were so entertaining. especially this little guy, kyle mou from peoria, illinois. he didn't win but they had a little interview with him and he said something to the effect, "I don't really like spelling that much, but I like competing on this stage, because it's hard". he also said his favorite word was "laid back"...but then realized it was two words. adorable.

searching through my blog stats today (that gave me the super cool info featured in the last post) I have come across a couple places where my photos or photos of me, have been posted. yay!

so many images I wanted to post from this wedding, I had to divide them into groups.

tess's mom is an amazing events planner. I need to get her details so I can pass them along. every detail was so well thought out...from the food to the lighting and decor...and check out that mushroom cake! totally unique and tasty! I had a few pieces of different cake before I left and one of them was a chocolate cake with passion fruit filling. WHAT?! it was probably the best cake I have ever eaten.

a gorgeous wedding and a beautiful couple.

tess and adam, I wish you a long happy life together filled with fungi and sparkly lights.

ps. notice the heart the lights above the cake made in the pool?! tender.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY:

dearest mother
(grant and I just brought her breakfast in bed... sweet vanilla bean crepes with raspberries, peaches and fresh whipped cream along with some lemon and sugar ones and fresh squeezed oj. yumsters. we love being here with her and my dad. my plan is to spoil her rotten today. she deserves it.)

care bear
(one my by bestest friends. beautiful, artistic, incredible baker and so loyal and devoted. plus she loves impromptu hip-hop dance parties. I love you care!)

mark diddy
(grants brother in law, who passed away about a month before our wedding. you are happy, easy going and always up for a laugh! we miss you and can't wait to see you again.)

&

melissa thornton
(one of g's good friends who has become one of my friends who we love being friendly with! her married last name escapes me, but her and her husband are adorable and they have an adorable baby on the way.)

happy birthday awesome people in my life!

and smoked meat

me and the hus-band are flying to the great state of texas today to visit my parents.
I don't want to make any promises I can't keep, but I'm pretty sure I'll be eating a lot of this while I'm there.

I'll keep the blog up and running while I am away.

goodbye earthquakes in california. hello tornados!
(did you fellow californians feel those this week? It's like a bulldozer rammed into the side of my house.)

stay the same

baby sister anna, was visiting my parents and found these little gems on my mom's computer.

sometimes I really miss my sisters.

I wonder if I took for granted the last months we all lived under the same roof... knowing it will never happen again.

growing up and letting go can be seriously hard.

right this moment I wish I could hide under the kitchen counter, avoiding dishes and holding back laughter. It sounds like complete contentment.

pasta w/ peas and prosciutto

(photo of a photo)

listen dudes, this recipe is SO good. pretty much every thing I make out of my "everyday foods- great food fast" cookbook is really good.

this is the best pasta dish I have had in a long time. It was surprisingly fresh and light tasting. I loved the lemon zest against the taste of the prosciutto. PLUS it was fast and easy.

trust me. make it. eat it. love it. recipe here.

(ps. make a lot so you have leftovers. you will miss it when it's gone)
