first weekend of summer

relative size. hello dandelion.

photo taken on g's iphone. cool.

see the rip. r.i.p. tent and mj.

mr husband and I wanted to get away for the official first weekend of summer, so last friday night, we jumped in the car and drove till we found a campsite...how adventurous of us!

as we setup camp somewhere in frazier park, we had only one minor problem, our luxurious queen size blow up mattress ripped a hole in our tent. how rude. after some minor deflating we slept like two little peas in a pod.

it wasn't until morning light that we realized how beautiful our site was. the misty light was glistening off everything and some morning shooting ensued. it felt so good to wake up and take photos first thing. best saturday ever.

breakfast consisted of whatever we threw in the cooler...raspberries, vanilla bean yogurt and avocado. weird, yes. delicious, yes. if we only knew we could light a fire! next time pyro maniacs for shizzle. I really need to fry an egg on a tin can for grantel.

...after camping, hiking. after hiking, eating at awesome mexican restaurant with homemade horchata. after eating, drive in movie!

best first weekend of summer ever!

(all photos have a redish filter. I'm not usually one for action rama on my photos. I like to be pure, BUT I think this adds a feeling of nostalgia for camping trips of yesteryear, don't you?)

iguassu falls

after rio we spent a couple days exploring the beautiful falls on both the brazil and argentine sides. I was really quite impressed. my favorite part was strolling down the green walkway and having the mist from the falls cool down our hot bods. I generally really love mists of all kinds. we also took a boat ride up really close to one of the falls...I think it shattered one of my ear drums (ok, not really)...but I did learn water force is no laughing matter. oh, and grant took some photos of some rascally varmets that wandered down the paths next to us that maybe I will post later. oh, and we at some coconut popsicles that were really good.

hello utah

grant and I leave for utah today to shoot kindra's and marty's wedding on friday. last time we were there it looked like this (refer to above photos)....this time maybe it will look different? I did hear it was raining a lot. I have to admit this kind of excites me. I love summer thunderstorms in utah. (just as long as they don't ruin my weenie roast up millcreek canyon saturday night!)

more night shots- copacabana beach

all the locals were so freaked out that we were walking around the beach and boardwalk at night with cameras around our neck. they keep motioning for us to hide our cameras. there were tons of people on the beach and small children kicking soccer balls....I just didn't feel unsafe... oh and ps. no one messes with me while i'm shooting. no one.

pairs

the lack of swimsuit on the beaches in rio was amazing. why wear anything?

we're hoping for a beach day tomorrow in san clemente. weather please cooperate. rachel will probably be wearing a little more than the brazen brazilians....but you never know with grant.

(honeymoon in brazil photos continuing on monday).
happy 1st weekend of june lovelys!

and smoked meat

me and the hus-band are flying to the great state of texas today to visit my parents.
I don't want to make any promises I can't keep, but I'm pretty sure I'll be eating a lot of this while I'm there.

I'll keep the blog up and running while I am away.

goodbye earthquakes in california. hello tornados!
(did you fellow californians feel those this week? It's like a bulldozer rammed into the side of my house.)

back to reality

(ilha de boipeba)

we are back from our honeymoon to brazil..... sort of. I am in what I like to call "honeymoon hibernation". I can't seem to shake the need to sip cool drinks and laze about however I please.

we had a great time exploring brazil. I shot only and all film and I can't wait to share some of my favorites with you.....and I will... as soon as I take a nap and lay in the sun some more.

honeymoon in brazil!

the tickets are booked! we are flying to rio the day after our wedding for 2 weeks! a little bit of city, a little bit of giant waterfall and a lot of beach. we wanted to go someone where neither of us had been and somewhere were we could explore and relax. I think brazil will work just fine.

anyone been there? any great suggestions? what not to miss? what food to eat? usually I am in charge of travel as grant doesn't handle online forms and airports quite as well, but he is helping with this trip (he must!) AND he is booking the honeymoon night all by himself. I am so proud of him.
