colorado- august 2008

we had family reunion time with the porters in colorado springs and can I just say, colorado springs is great! small, but not too small. clean, but not too clean. old, but not too old. we hit some of the old stomping grounds... manitu (and the natural mineral water that is fizzy), garden of the gods and good quality time at gma and gpa porters house. We then left one porch swing to visit another in boulder. grant's uncle corky and aunt melanie welcomed us into their wonderland for a couple of nights. they are amazing artists and their home is a reflection of the amazingly creative heads they live in...so colorful and thoughtful. There was no mistaking who's home you were in. I loved it. I could have stayed for months.

thirsty friends

these two 20 something chaps were heading from LA to the grand canyon on a cross country tour of the united states. because of a heavy language barrier I only gathered select information; they were from japen and wanted to know where they could "find beer"....more specifically they wanted to know "where can we find best beer in grand canyon"? unfortunately, being the sober gal I am , I couldn't help much, but assured them there must be beer somewhere in the grand canyon....right?

more ny..but never enough.

1- best cobb salad ever! deluxe diner, on broadway btwn 112th & 113th down a few blocks from colombia (don't mind the lens flare).
2- la esquina, where nick works. yummy mexican food. try the corn on the cob. you won't regret it.
3- jason. miss that guy. an amazing designer. works for MAC .
4- benny and nick after a long night. love the yellow light on subway cars.
5- the elevator up to the penthouse.
6- door art.
7- the peoples.

la esquina

ate here last night. they have nummy corn on the cob covered with cheese...(they also have a secret lair underground...walk through the kitchen and past 3 bouncers and you are in a super exclusive spot. have to know someone to get in..lucky for me I know nick!)

don't ask, don't tell

took these on my last plane ride. usually I am nice and ask the person next to me if I can take their picture...but she was sleeping! what's a girl to do?

on my way to NYC today. maybe I'll snag a few more of these plane shots if I'm not too busy watching the food network on jetblue tele.

pirates cove 2008

10+ years ago this was a spring break dream. there was never any thought to any other place we would rather go. there was no place better. now 10yrs later, there is still no place better. I'm usually not one for staying at one place more than a couple of days, but I can honestly say I could spend 2 weeks at pirates cove and still not have had enough time.

the slides, the pool side chairs, the weather, the water temperature, grilling meat, smores, the views, the TV's, the waterproof remote control, the babies.....all the adorable babies, the music, the blue floaty mats, cold water in every fridge, the ice cream machine, the hammocks....oh the hammocks, the hammock up top, the hammocks over the pool, the hot tubs, going double down the slide, the rattlesnakes, the misty fans, the mermaid and merman club, all the stairs, high school girlfriends all grown up with beautiful families.....

we loved pirates cove!! thank you to beana and her family for being so fun and generous. We missed captain jack (aka: craig) but felt nothing but love for the fabulous hiatus he created.
here are some highlights from the weekend. (you may recognize one of my usual muses....love that face.)
